"Governor Baker issued an Order that went into effect on May 6 requiring face masks or cloth face coverings in public places where social distancing is not possible."
We know 'social distancing' means keeping at least six feet from others, so let's reword the above - have a mask if keeping six feet away is impossible. Simple, but no one seems to get it - the more common interpretation is "wear a mask, and pretend COVID-19 doesn't exist". I don't remember coming so close to people in public before 2020, and these people are almost always wearing masks.
It's fun to get annoyed with the unmasked fools (so many villages missing their idiot these days) but if they think social distancing is possible, then more power to them. But the people in masks getting close really concerns me; no part of the mandate explains their behavior. If I had the choice, I would prefer everyone remain unmasked and six feet away from me rather than what I see today - fully masked people getting within touching distance, perhaps so demoralized by 2020 that they no longer believe even social distancing is possible.
