the business bro presents: train or motivate

The best job description for a manager I've ever read came from Andy Grove's High Output Management. In this work, Grove states the formula for improving the performance of an employee: train or motivate.

This comes from a simple calculus. Any employee who cannot do a job fails for one of two reasons. The first is inability. The second is a lack of interest in doing it. So, the only remedies are better training or better motivation, respectively.
