Hi all,
Welcome to another month of TOA.
Longtime readers of the blog will recall that it was right around this time last year when my posting schedule started to falter. I'll squash any premature concerns about a repeat 'summer slump' by guaranteeing that I'll keep up this current three-post-per-week pace, at minimum, until the leaves around here make the transition to foliage. I'm considering increasing the pace, in fact, but I'll leave those details for another day.
The reasoning is very simple. As things currently stand (date of writing: June 15), I have a full month scheduled out on the blog- all the writing, proofreading, and scheduling is done. So even if something wild happens to me in the next month, those posts will go up for sure.
In addition, the current backlog contains about thirty complete posts. Not all of these are proofread but with so much material- the equivalent of two and a half months- I could stop writing and still get into November just by finalizing what's written.
The decision to schedule posts out a month ahead has been highly successful. It has proven yet another reminder of the value in getting ahead of 'admin' (which in this case means all the editing and scheduling). With no need to get anything done on a given day, I find the writing process comes more easily.
Thanks for reading in June.
Tim

Books I recently checked out that I'm excited to (someday) write about...
A Thousand Years of Good Prayers by Yiyun Li
I don't know much background information going into this one. These ten short stories are all, in some way, about the experiences of the Chinese and Chinese-Americans living both home and abroad. My experiences with collections about a different culture are mostly positive and I expect that I will learn a couple of new perspectives through this read.
For The Time Being by Annie Dillard
A book from a well-regarded writer about the deepest questions of our experience? I'm surprised I haven't read this sooner, to be honest.
In the next month of...True On Average...
1) I crow about the value of advice.
2) I reluctantly write a part two of a past post.
3) I finally post something explicit about hospice volunteering.
See you in July!
